STEPHENS STARS SIGN JAMIE FLESNER, ALEXIS WOOD AS NAIA RECRUITS FOR 2009
COLUMBIA, Mo. – Stephens College announces the signing of Jamie Flesner and Alexis Wood, both sophomores at John Wood Community College in Quincy, Il., for the 2009-2010 seasons. Flesner and Wood signed their letter of intent on Aug. 13, 2009, at John Wood Community College. Flesner will participate on the Stars basketball team, and Wood will play both volleyball and basketball at Stephens.
Flesner earned the following awards during her basketball career at Camp Point Central High School and John Wood:

Averaged 5.1 points per game and 4.0 rebounds (2006-2007)

“Both Jamie and Alexis are great fits in our athletic program,” says Dane Pavlovich, Stephens College head basketball coach and associate athletic director. “They come from strong high school programs, and they have earned valuable experience at John Wood. We expect Jamie and Alexis to be important pieces of Stephens College's growth in the American Midwest Conference.”
Stephens offers National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) sports teams in basketball, cross country, softball, swimming, tennis and volleyball. The College began play in the American Midwest Conference in Fall 2008.
