STEPHENS STARS SIGN ASHLEY JOHNSON AS NAIA BASKETBALL RECRUIT FOR 2007-2008
COLUMBIA, Mo. – Stephens College announces the signing of Ashley Johnson, a senior at Parkway Central High School in Chesterfield, Mo., for the 2007-2008 basketball season. Johnson, a 5’10” forward/guard, will sign her letter of intent on Wednesday, April 11, 2007, at Parkway Central H.S. Stephens also offers NAIA sports teams in cross country, softball, swimming, tennis and volleyball.
Honors and accomplishments:
- Lettered varsity, 4 years
- 1,192 career points
- All-Suburban South Conference Honorable Mention, Sophomore year
- First Team All-Conference, All St. Louis Metro Area Honorable Mention, Junior year
- Senior year: Team Captain, All-District, All St. Louis Metro Area Honorable Mention, First Team All-Conference, Conference Player of the Year, MVP of St. Louis County vs. Jefferson County All-Star Game
Senior Statistics:
- Conference leader in rebounds
- Team leader in free throw %, 75.2
- Team leader in field goal %, 47.9
- 2nd on team in steals, 2.92 per game
- Averaged 16.0 points per game and 10.6 rebounds per game
"Ashley is a hard-working player who had a tremendous senior season," says Dane Pavlovich, Stephens College head basketball coach. "She can do a variety of things on the court, all of which will translate to success for her at Stephens."
