STEPHENS STARS SIGN ASHLEIGH HOUDYSHELL AS NAIA BASKETBALL RECRUIT FOR 2007-2008

COLUMBIA, Mo. – Stephens College announces the signing of Ashleigh Houdyshell, a transfer student from Cottey College in Nevada, Mo., for the 2007-2008 basketball season. Houdyshell, a 6’ forward from Webb City, Mo., signed her letter of intent on Aug. 20, 2007. Stephens also offers National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) sports teams in cross country, softball, swimming, tennis and volleyball.
Cottey College Statistics:

  • 2005-06: started 18 of 24 games, 4.8 points per game, 5.0 rebounds per game, 2.3 blocks per game
  • 2006-07: 50% field goal percentage, 3.3 points per game, 3.3 rebounds per game, 1.0 blocks per game

Cottey College Records:

  • No. 1 in career blocks (78), 2005-07
  • No. 1 in single season blocks (56), 2005-06

“Ashleigh is a quality post player who will give us a very strong defensive presence,” says Dane Pavlovich, Stephens College head basketball coach. “She has a good deal of potential on the offensive end, and she will continue to improve in that area. Ashleigh will provide a spark for our program in a variety of ways, both on and off of the floor.”
