STARS SIGN Tia LaFavor AS NAIA BASKETBALL RECRUIT FOR 2006-2007
COLUMBIA
, Mo. - Stephens College announces the signing of Tia LaFavor,
a senior at Leeton High School in Leeton , Mo. , for the 2006-2007
basketball season. LaFavor, a 6'1" forward, will sign at 10
a.m. today, Thursday, April 20, 2006 , at Leeton High School.
As a senior,
Love scored 416 total points, averaging 13 points per game (career:
823 points, averaging 8.7 points per game), 314 rebounds, averaging
9.8 rebounds per game (career: 723 rebounds, averaging 7.7 rebounds
per game), 39 assists (88 career) and 27 blocked shots (107
career).
Her excellence on the basketball court has brought her the following awards: Missouri Basketball Coaches Association All-State, Associated Press All-State second team, All-District in Kansas City, Mo., KMZU Dream Team, Lions Club All-Star, All-Conference first team, All-Truman Lake Area second team, Windsor All-Tournament Team and Lakeland All-Tournament Team (senior year); and All-Conference second team (sophomore). As a senior, her team finished second in the Class 1 State Tournament, and as a junior, her team finished fourth in the Class 1 State Tournament.
"Tia has played at an
extremely high level in high school, and that experience will
benefit our program," said Dane Pavlovich, Stephens College
head basketball coach. "She has a strong work ethic, a strong
understanding of the game, and the ability to do a lot of things
on the floor. In addition, Tia is a fantastic student,
one who really typifies the term student-athlete."
