STARS SIGN Kolina Pihana AS NAIA BASKETBALL RECRUIT FOR 2006-2007
COLUMBIA , Mo. - Stephens College announces the signing of Kolina Pihana, a senior at New Franklin High School in New Franklin, Mo., for the 2006-2007 basketball season. Pihana, a 5'9" guard/forward, will sign at 3 p.m. today, Thursday, April 6, 2006, at New Franklin High School .
During high school play, Pihana averaged 8.67 points, 5.6 rebounds, 2.1 assists and 1.9 steals per game; her career totals were 1,049 points, 676 rebounds, 252 assists and 224 steals. Her excellence on the basketball court has brought her the following awards: All-Conference Honorable Mention (freshman season); All-Conference First Team and All-District First Team (sophomore season); All-Conference First Team , All-District First Team, KMZU Dream Team, KRES All Star and All-State First Team (junior season); All-Conference First Team, All-District First Team, KMZU Dream Team, McDonalds All-American nominee, KRES All Star and All-State Second Team (senior season). As a junior, her team also finished second in Class 1 at State.
"Kolina will provide a good deal of athleticism at the small forward position," said Dane Pavlovich, Stephens College head basketball coach. "She has played at a high level in high
school, and that experience will pay off for us at Stephens. She is a great addition to our program."
