STARS SIGN Asya love AS NAIA BASKETBALL RECRUIT FOR 2006-2007

COLUMBIA , Mo. - Stephens College announces the signing of Asya Love, a senior at Lindbergh High School in Renton Wash. , for the 2006-2007 basketball season. Love, a 5'7" guard, will sign today, Wednesday, April 12, 2006, on the Stephens College campus.
As a senior, Love averaged 12.7 points, 3 rebounds, 3 assists and 4 steals per game, and as a junior, she averaged 13.4 points. Her excellence on the basketball court has brought her the following awards: Varsity Letter (sophomore year), All-Seamount League Second Team, All-League Academic First Team, Team MVP, team captain and leading scorer (junior year), and All-Seamount League First Team, Team MVP, Athlete of the Week named by South County Journal , team semifinalists in the Washington High School State Tournament, and Paint All-Star Classic participant. As a senior, she also served as the Associated Student Body president. Love also is a team member of the nationally recognized Tree of Hope AAU select team.
"Asya will be tremendous at Stephens. She possesses a great deal of versatility on the basketball court, she can play both the point and two guard positions, and is a leader both on and off the court," said Dane Pavlovich, Stephens College head basketball coach. "Asya is a fantastic addition to the Stars basketball program as well as the campus community."
