Buckle up for this fast-paced comedy about the ultimate search for a soul mate. This play has been called "a raucous ride through male-female relationships." We encounter the horrors of blind dates, a brain surgeon who is always "Mr. Wrong," an elderly divorced couple who try to stand each other for their grandson’s soccer game, and a whole list of other would-be or shouldn’t-be couples. Make a date to join us over the Fourth of July week for a truly American chuckle.

Saturday matinees, 4:30 p.m; Sunday, 6 p.m.

A brand new play that not only is an OST premiere, but one of the first few productions in the country. This is a comedy about family vacations. It’s a memory play where a young man relives moments from his youth when the family would pile into the car and visit places like Mount Union, Iowa. There can be no one in America who doesn’t recall those long, but wonderful days in the car, with Mom humming, Dad missing the turnoff and the kids fighting. Be the first one on your block, heck your state, to see this special play.

This enchanting musical takes place at a live broadcast of The Mutual Manhattan Variety Cavalcade from the Hotel Astor’s Algonquin Room on Dec. 21, 1942. The theatre will be filled with the spirit and songs of that bygone era when the world was at war and pop music meant “Strike Up the Band” and “Boogie-Woogie Bugle-Boy.” The New York Daily News said, “It’s an exhilarating evening of singing, dancing and fun.” Get your tickets now!

"Quality Street"—Period Comedy

Tuesday-Saturday, 8 p.m.;
Saturday matinees, 4:30 p.m; Sunday, 6 p.m.
Okoboji Summer Theatre - Spirit Lake, IA 51360
If you love the story of Peter Pan, then you must see this lovely play. It is written by the same playwright, James M. Barrie, and has all the same atmosphere of lightness and fantasy. The costumes will be worth the price of the ticket alone, but the story of the gamin “Phoebe of the ringlets” will captivate you for years to come. "Quality Street" has very much the feel of "Pride and Prejudice" and every bit the happiest of endings!

"Enter Laughing"—Farce
July 29, 2008-Aug. 3, 2008
Tuesday-Saturday, 8 p.m.;
Saturday matinees, 4:30 p.m; Sunday, 6 p.m.
Okoboji Summer Theatre - Spirit Lake, IA 51360
Yes, it’s a farce, but it’s just as sweet as it can be. Based on the novel by Carl Reiner, this story introduces us to David, who is frantic to become an actor. Frantic is a perfect word as we follow him through auditions and the actual moment when he says his first line. We might need to put a warning sign in our lobby, because the New York Times reported that the opening night of this play the audience was “convulsed with laughter.” Since laughing isn’t hazardous to your health, take a risk and join us for a riotous romp about a boy whose parents would prefer he become a druggist!
