"The Wedding Day"

A wedding day or no wedding day
Was it a large church house with bow covered allies
With pews filled with love ones to welcome the bride
No
Were there musicians playing and candles lit bright
Or colorful gowns and shimmering light
No
What about the bride
Was she ushered in all decked out in white?
With vale over head and hand held quite tight
No
The groom did he stand at the altar with clergy at side
With wet sweaty palms and churning inside
No
Did she receive a gold ring to cherish for all times
A symbol of unity and of a tie none could deny
No
The scene was quite different
Quite far from that described
No church house, no music, no shimmering bride,
No love ones to witness their glorious day
But no wedding day I dare not say
For a beautiful young couple all covered in love
They did not need that which was described above
For grace surrounded them
And God sent his bright sunlight
And the angles stood witness to their glorious plight
Yes far from that descried above a wedding day
Dressed only in love
For so many years they have shared a marriage
Not dressed up in formality
Nor in fashion or style
But only in love
Yes it seems like a very long time
But the memory of their wedding day
Is still fresh in their mind
We praise God for their union
Although different from most
Its lasted quite some time not many can boast
But they never boast
Because those vows that so many take
They took to the heart
And that you can’t fake
So we praise God for the example they have set of commitment and love
And a wedding day dressed only in love
