Even though wearing make-up isn’t a necessity, you have to admit that once it’s on, you feel beautiful; it makes ME feel beautiful. No matter what I have on, if my make-up looks nice I KNOW that I look good. I take great pride in the make-up that I do. Even if you’re one of those ladies who think that make-up is a waste of time, you know that it does still make you feel good once you have it on–if it’s done properly and to your liking.
Before you can start applying any make-up, you have to first make sure that your face isn’t dry. So I start by moisturizing my face with Cetaphil lotion. Although this is my first choice of lotion, any unscented lotion would work. I look at my face in the mirror and see how I am feeling that day. “Am I feeling glamorous like Halle Berry, sexy like Sofia Vergara, simple like Audrey Hepburn, or just plain lazy like myself?” Most of the time I choose to be lazy, but I feel like I should explain something a little more detailed, like a sexy look. This process may seem like it would take forever, but it only takes around five to seven minutes. So here we go!
After moisturizing my face with the Cetaphil, I let the moisturizer dry so my foundation does not look blotchy, you should probably do the same. While it is drying, I get a tissue and set it right in front of me. You’ll realize why it’s there later on (this part might not be necessary for you though). Once my face dries, I apply my Maybelline New York Dream Smooth Mousse. Sounds fancy, huh? Well it’s not…Walgreen’s for eight dollars. I prefer mousse foundation instead of liquid or powder, but any of the three is fine. I look into my metallic pink make-up bag and get my angular brush and eyebrow pencil/brush. This part is just to shade in the eyebrows and make them more visible. I take the pencil and sharpen it because for some reason, every morning it seems to be dull. Once the pencil is sharp enough, I go over my eyebrows just enough so that when I use the eyebrow shadow with the angular brush, the shadow sticks. I brush the eyebrow shadow gently across my eyebrows, making sure that I don’t get anything more.
Next, I open my Naked 2 Urban Decay palette and begin to start the smoky eye. Using my finger, I apply “Suspect” to the inner half of my eye. Then with that same finger I put “YDK” to the outer half of my eye. Next I take the color “Tease” with the blending side of the two-ended brush and apply it through the crease. With a flat brush I apply “Busted” to the outer v of my eye. Take the two-ended eye shadow brush to the blending side and blend the darker eye shadow with the lighter eye shadow to give it an ombré look. After that apply “Foxy” to the brow bone using a shadow brush and then apply “Bootycall” to the inner corner using the flat brush. Take the flat end of the two-ended brush and apply “Busted” to the outside of the lower lash line and “Bootycall” to the inner lash line. Now the eye shadow part is done.
Eyeliner is the key to really making your eyes pop. I prefer to use liquid eyeliner so that the line is more defined, but pencil eyeliner is also okay. Apply the eyeliner to the top of the lash line, water line or tight line, which ever works best for you. I get my mascara out next and do my top lashes first. Starting from the base of my lashes and working my way to the tip (some people have straighter eyelashes, and if this is you, you should curl your lashes BEFORE using your mascara). I dip the brush back in the black tar stuff and go on the top of my lashes and do the same thing. I then dip, spread and repeat for my other eye. Next I do my bottom lashes with the tip of the brush. It never fails, EVERY morning I end up crying. You might think it is because of something serious but no, it is because I stab myself in the eye with the brush; now you know what that tissue is for from earlier. Once I catch all the tears with the tissue I have, I finish my eyelashes and grab my blush and brush. The key to applying blush on the right part of the cheek is to suck your cheeks in and put the blush on the top of your cheek closest to the eye and don’t pass the area that your cheeks are sucked in. So knowing that, I make my goofy “Finding Nemo” fish face and put my vixen-colored blush on.
I look at my face in the mirror and fix all the little stray marks that I may have, I suggest that you do the same so that your face will look “flawless”. The masterpiece that I just created, also known as the make-up on my face, looks amazing–just like yours should look now. I bet just by doing this you feel gorgeous, and you have every right to. You took time out of your schedule to create art on your canvas. I hope you enjoy your make-up and it makes you feel as good as I do when my face is all done up!
